Description
In this depiction, the plasmalemma and the fused outer acrosomal membrane of the spermatozoan breaks up, liberating the anterior portion of the spermatozoal nucleus. The dissolution of the zona pellucida of the secondary oocyte is depicted as well. The backdrop is a dramatic landscape view of the ampulla of the oviduct where fertilization takes place.
