"Riviera Villa with Sail Boats" is an original and colorful acrylic and oil on canvas, painted by renown artist Leslie Ehrin, a former member of the Artists Association of Nantucket.  The painting is 16" x 20" - and created in the "plein air" method.  It is framed in a traditional gold frame, with linen liner, making it 26" x 30" overall.

The scene is a Villa viewed by the artist as she drove the Upper Corniche between Menton, France, and the Italian border, during a car trip from Nice to Portofino. The Villa was beautifully lit with late afternoon sun, and sailboats bobbed in the distance, beyond the home.  A row of cypress trees blocked part of the house and the water view, but what was seen was very romantic and enticing.

It was this iconographic image that caused the artist to stop her car, and sketch for a short while before the light changed, giving her the ability to paint a small watercolor. Later, Leslie painted the larger original which she has donated. 

Leslie Ehrin started painting at age sixteen months, and has created a vibrant, exciting body of work that makes one want to immediately travel to France or Italy or Nantucket.

Prior to studying Painting and Fine Arts at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Leslie first graduated with undergraduate degrees in Art History and English Literature from The University of Pennsylvania. She later attended graduate school at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, studying painting for four years in the Certificate Program.

Leslie has managed a Native American Art Gallery in Philadelphia, which led to her managing the Art Sales & Rental Gallery at the Philadelphia Museum of Art - now Artworks Gallery - where she developed corporate art collections for numerous companies in the Philadelphia area. Her work is often displayed on Nantucket, through exhibits to benefit the Nantucket Land Council and in numerous venues and galleries on the Island, including Nantucket Airport.

Leslie's painting are always the focal point of a room, making "Riviera Villa with Sail Boats" especially ideal for over a mantel.
