Treat yourself to a full day of rock climbing on the breath-taking "Gunks," accompanied by a guide with over 20 years of climbing and teaching experience, and with all necessary equipment included. The Shawangunk Mountains, located 1 hour from Ossining in the Catskills, outside the town of New Paltz, comprise the most popular and extensive rock climbing in the eastern United States. Climbing in the Gunks dates back to 1955 and holds deep history and traditions. The day's climb will be designed with the skill level of the climber in mind: for a beginning climber the day will include time spent learning basic techniques followed by appropriate climbs, while a more experienced climber will be provided with more challenging routes. Regardless of the climber's skill level, these beautiful cliffs with their panoramic views are a great location to learn and practice the art of traditional climbing and gear placements.
