Xu Chun Ming, born in 1963 in China, was famous for painting plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, lotus and birds. The set is a symbol of four seasons of a year as plum implies winter, orchid implies spring, bamboo implies summer, chrysanthemum implies autumn. Also these four plants are referred to as Four Noblemen of flowers in China, symbolizing modest, virtue, determination and grace.
