Description
Unique, limited edition numbered piece, hand-worked by Christofle Silver in Paris. The vase holds a magnum of Fleur de Champagne 1998 and is a true collectors item.
A new case for the magnum format of the prestige cuvée
Fleur de Champagne in the shape of a limited-edition vase by Christofle.
The House of Perrier-Jouët, founded in 1811, presents its Fleur de Champagne magnum set in an exquisite silver-plated filigree vase, a superb example of the silversmith’s art created by Christofle. Made as a limited edition, the vase is a collector’s piece portraying a contemporary interpretation of the anemones on the Fleur de Champagne bottle designed by Emile Gallé. Gallé was a leading light of the Art Nouveau movement and created the bottle in 1902 especially for Perrier-Jouët, seeking to capture the essence of a unique champagne house.
This limited edition of 150 numbered pieces world-wide, each one hand-worked, is the result of the collaboration between two major creative and artistic brands. The two houses first worked together in 1935, and joined forces in 2008 to take up a new aesthetic challenge: producing a work of art that re-interprets Emile Gallé’s anemone created in 1902 especially for Perrier Jouët’s cuvee Belle Epoque.
The extravagant perfection of the work as a whole and the delicate purity of its lines echo the hallmark finesse and elegance of the Fleur de Champagne with its grand cru Chardonnay wines from the Côte des Blancs.
The Champagne: Perrier-Jouet Fleur de Champagne Brut 1998 in Magnum
The blend is taken from among the thirty or so crus that make up the Cuvée Fleur de Champagne 1998, six historic terroirs are featured with particular prominence. The 1998 vintage brought out the elegance and flinty, mineral quality of the Chardonnay grapes from Cramant and Avize. The Pinots Noir of Mailly, Verzenay and Verzy bring delicacy and velvet smoothness. By electing to add just 5% of Pinot Meunier from the village of Dizy, Hervé Deschamps adds a well rounded finishing touch of fruit to a blend whose finesse is evident from the first. The nose, light and delicate, shows aromas of white flowers and white fruit, such as firm-fleshed peaches and pears. In the mouth, aromatic generosity persistently alternates with a subtle elegance.
