Description

Gnarly Head Wines: 6L Bottle of 2007 Zinfandel Lodi, California. Etched 6L Bottle of Gnarly Head 2007 old Vine Zinfandel, Lodi

Gnarly Head Zin was inspired by the zinfamous Lodi appellation. The combination of well-draining soils and a Mediterranean-style climate make Lodi an excellent place to grow great wine grapes, particularly Zinfandel. With a grape growing history that dates back to the mid-1800's (about the same time vineyards were first being planted in Napa and Sonoma) combined with industry leading viticultural practices, Lodi brings together the very best of California traditions with cutting edge sustainable farming technologies.

The Monterey Canyon, an undersea feature the size of the Grand Canyon and located deep in Monterey Bay, makes its presence felt nearly every day in the form of wind, fog and chilling sea air. By understanding the effects of Monterey's fog as well as the wind tunnel effect of the surrounding mountain ranges, Gnarly Head vineyards consistently grow fruit with bright flavors and balanced acidity.

Napa Valley is synonymous with great Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. A climate of hot summer days, cool evenings and foggy mornings, combined with the alluvial soils deposited by ancient rivers, work together to form a nurturing cradle for these varietals.

The Dry Creek Valley appellation is one of the northern-most AVAs in Sonoma and benefits from both inland and coastal influences with both hotter daytime temperatures and cooling coastal fog in the mornings and the evenings. The rocky soil drains well, which stresses the vines before harvest and concentrates the varietal character in the Gnarlier Head grapes
