Daedalus (DAY-de-lus) Cellars is a small, family-owned winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. We source from some of the best vineyards in the state and handle the fruit minimally and carefully to create balanced wines with complex fruit and elegant structure. Their refinement makes them natural partners for a wide range of foods and ensures their graceful maturation.
Aron has worked with Maresh grapes since he started at Rex Hill Vineyards in 1998, and it has been his favorite vineyard since. Maresh Vineyard is the oldest planting on Worden Hill road, in the Dundee Hills. The predominant characteristics of the site are bright red-fruit flavors, with earthy, herbal notes and an unmistakable structure. The vines naturally yield consistently low crops and are capable of producing wine that is extremely elegant and complex. We are very happy to be able to bottle a few cases from this site which we absolutely love. In 2007, we were very fortunate to begin a long lease on the southern section of Maresh Vineyard, and therefore look forward to being able to produce a Maresh vineyard designate for years to come.
The wine should drink well on release with decanting, but will develop greater nuance and richness over the next eight to twelve years.
