Description

Rid your property of pesky geese with a German shepherd dog silhouette.

The dimensions of the silhouette are 32" high by 36" wide.

In 2007, a school science fair project showed that a silhouette of a dog would keep geese off of recreation fields. This success led to the founding of Good Shepherd Geese Patrol.

Soon, the demand for these dogs spread and, as a result, a high percentage of the company's business is from local municipalities and referrals.

Why are Canada geese (Banta Canadensis) such a problem in the northeast?  At the end of the 19th century, Canada geese had become overhunted and were nearing extinction.  In 1916 they became protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and by the 1960s an effort had been made to rebuild their numbers.  Birds were raised in captivity and then moved to other locations where they thrived.  As these populations became accustomed to their new urban and suburban settings, they became resident populations (non-migratory) and their numbers grew quickly. They love just about any open grassy area, including athletic fields, golf courses, lawns, airports, and your yard!
