Description

Are you or someone you love dreaming of becoming a Hollywood producer?  This auction item offers two people the unique opportunity to share a meal at a Hollywood restaurant and be given a personalized driving tour through Hollywood, hosted by two of the most successful producers in Tinseltown!

Producers Paul Mason and Vicki Shigekuni Wong, who recently worked together to produce "Hachi: A Dog's Tale," will take two people to one of their favorite vintage Hollywood restaurants (Musso & Frank, Matteo's, or Lawry's ... bidder's choice). Must take place within 6 months of auction and on a mutually agreed upon date.

Ride down Hollywood Boulevard while learning all you can about making movies, producing TV series, and writing successful scripts.

Ninety years after opening as Frank’s Francois Cafe in 1919, Musso & Frank ("where the stars dine") is still going strong and is now the oldest restaurant in Hollywood. In the 1920s – 1940s, the golden years in Hollywood, almost everyone in the entertainment business dined or drank at Musso & Frank.  Through the years, waiters served Mary Pickford, Greta Garbo, Edward G. Robinson, Claudette Colbert, Bette Davis, Cesar Romero and many more.  But the restaurant was also known for its clientele of famous writers. The famous back room was home to William Saroyan, John Fante, Scott Fitzgerald, Nathaniel West, William Falkner, Thomas Wolfe, Ernest Hemingway and many more.

Since it first came onto the scene in 1963, Matteo’s in West L.A. has been the epitome of cool. Maybe it was because Frank Sinatra—an old pal of Matty “Matteo” Jordan’s from back home in Hoboken—often came to dinner along with his rat pack crowd. Maybe it was the mix of great Italian food, tuxedoed waiters and an upscale supper club atmosphere. Or maybe it was just because no matter who you were, you were greeted like a friend as you enjoyed your dinner next to a Who’s Who of Hollywood movers and shakers. What’s amazing is that more than 40 years and a whole new generation later, the restaurant, now under new ownership, still has that winning combination of homey and hip.

Lawrence L. Frank and Walter Van de Kamp co-founded the original Lawry's The Prime Rib on La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Much of the splendor of the meal was in the way each part of the dinner was prepared and presented. Ever the showman, Lawrence designed the famous "silver" carts so the beef could be carved at tableside.
