Description
One Week in a Cottage in Semur-en-Auxois (Burgundy) Spend a week in the charming cottage of NPR's French Correspondent Eleanor Beardsley and her husband, French television journalist Ulysse Gosset. Located at the foot of a medieval village, the house has its own large private garden, including fruit trees and a giant chestnut tree nestling a treehouse, next to the Armancon river. The house has two bedrooms, each with a double bed, a loft with a twin bed and a fold-out bed, and 1.5 baths; it sleeps three to seven people. The secluded patio is perfect for dining and drinks on a mild evening or coffee on a sunny morning, and offers a stunning view of the town?s thirteenth-century church and the ramparts and towers of the fortified chateau. Cross the little stone bridge for an easy stroll into the old town, where you will find a cobblestone pedestrian street with shops, old homes, restaurants, cafes, bakeries? and stunning examples of medieval and renaissance architecture. Burgundy?s famous Route des Grands Crus, featuring some of the world's finest wines, is only 40 minutes away.
