Description

Spend a week in Raydon Cottage, the country home of EB alumni parents Baer Pettit and Lisa Honeyman. Ninety miles and fifty years from London in the village of Orford (county Suffolk), this four-bedroom 18th century home is 1/4 mile walk from the River Ald and one mile from the North Sea. The house sleeps 10 and has two reception rooms, a TV room, two bathrooms and one 1/2 bath, a dining room and an old fashioned kitchen with an Aga stove.

Direct trains from London Liverpool Station to Melton (7 miles away). One mile walk into the village of Orford where you will find a 12th century Castle. The fascinating Orford Ness Nature Reserve is managed by the National Trust. Havergate Island an RSPB Bird sanctuary is a breeding ground for the rare avocet. There are river trips on the Ore estuary, sailing, wonderful walks, horseback riding and world class music both in the village church and at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall run by Aldeburgh Music. Suffolk is a haven for artists and there are many exhibitions in the village and nearby. Raydon Cottage is walking distance from the 13th-century King's Head Pub, a traditional pub now considered a "gastro pub" known for its fine food.

This is a Live Event Item.
