Description

Intrigued by the stars?  Six people will go behind the scenes at Flagstaff’s Lowell Observatory, where Pluto was discovered, for a rare in-depth tour of the historic observatory site on Mars Hill in Flagstaff, AZ.  Your personalized tour with a scientific staff member will take you to either the Anderson Mesa telescope sites or the in-development Discovery Channel Telescope.  When completed, the $40 million Discovery Channel Telescope will be the fifth-largest telescope in the continental United States.    You’ll dine in historic downtown Flagstaff at Cuvee 928, where enjoyment of fine wine and great food come together in a warm, comfortable atmosphere, then return to Mars Hill for an after-dinner reception with Lowell Observatory’s director Eileen Friel and a private viewing through the historic Clark 24-inch telescope.

Special Instructions

Limited handicapped access at the telescope sites.
