John H. Mowbray and his telescopes have scanned the night skies over Southern Nevada for years. Capturing on film the last solar eclipse of the 20th century and the first lunar eclipse of the 21st century, Mowbray’s photographs of the comets, planetary conjunctions and meteor storms have been well received by visitors to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Las Vegas displayed Mowbray’s astrophotographs in an exhibit entitled “Exploring the Skies over Southern Nevada,” and the magazine CERCA featured his astrophotography in its Winter, 2002 issue.
