Description
The Blue Jays are all excited to know that they could make a difference in another child’s life and help to better our school. They worked diligently as classroom teams to contribute to the school’s fund raising event. This was a way they could give back to the school and future VPC students.
This Friendship platter derive from our Martin Luther King lesson, preceded by our “Kindness and Love” lessons for K and kindness. The teachers acted out different scenarios on “Kind Acts vs. Not Kind Acts”. We then built on these prior lessons during L week when we talked about Love. During this time we made special drawings for our friends and wrote letters to classmates.
During our Martin Luther King study the children began to see how they can use their words to compromise and get along because even though in life we may not all agree on everything, we can live in harmony with our neighbors, friends, and families.
This Friendship ceramic platter carries these concepts. The children drew their own image on the platter, holding hands with other images. This also mimics what we sing every day before snack time: "Reach out and touch somebody's hand, make this world a better place, if you can".
Many thanks to the Blue Room teachers who helped to make this happen!
