Conrad Bakker lives and works out of Urbana, Illinois. His ongoing Untitled Projects engage the careful construction and specific placement of carved and painted objects so as to critically comment upon and make tangible the everyday economies between persons and things and spaces. Bakker has exhibited his work nationally and internationally at Tate Modern (London), Galerie Analix Forever (Geneva), The New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago (Chicago), Fargfabriken Center for Contemporary Art and Architecture (Stockholm), The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery (Saratoga Springs), The Blanton Museum of Art (Austin), Art in General (New York City), Revolution (Detroit), Bona Fide (Chicago), Suitable (Chicago), Lora Reynolds Gallery (Austin), in mailboxes and on his front lawn. His work has been reviewed or showcased in Art World Magazine, ArtUS, Art Papers, UOVO, The Chicago Tribune, Dagens Nyheter (Sweden), The New York Times, Contemporary, Flash Art, Sculpture, Dwell, and ReadyMade. Bakker's Untitled Projects were recently the subject of a survey exhibition titled Conrad Bakker: Objects & Economies [Untitled Projects 1997-2007] at the Des Moines Art Center.
