Stefani Byrd is a photographer and conceptual video artist. Wes Eastin is an independent filmmaker with a background in theatre and performance. The two combine their skills to create public artworks such as the interactive video installations You Sound Funny When You Smile. Their second collaborative installation was featured at Le Flash 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia and created the experience of being a foreigner for the audience by two giant sized video projected heads that mocked and taunted the audience in their native language, Hmong.
Their donated work, We Don't Say Sayonara, features the actress from the installation. The title comes from the actress's response to audience members who would respond to them in Japanese. The two are currently working on a large public art project creating a fusion of music, performance, and digital media slated for debut in October of 2010.
