Scott Lawrence addresses a precarious intersection of scientific and poetic knowledge. In subscribing to the moral seriousness of absurdity, Lawrence creates tragic/comic works which sometimes convey the inherent folly of a rationalist's investigation of poetry, or at other times simply reflect a belief that, through formal manipulation, material may become charged with the immaterial. Lawrence is a cofounder of the art and curatorial collective Dos Pestañeos. His work has been shown in New York, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Miami, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Kansas City. He currently lives and works in New York.
