Description

Resting Hippo Or Mvuu

This Mvuu, by artist Tracy Chatsama, portrays the spirit of shyness.  As Shona legend states, the hippo begged God to allow him to remain in the water all day to hide his ugliness.  God agreed but only if the hippo promised not to eat any of God's good fish.  So, to this day the shy hippo is a

vegetarian who symbolizes both modesty and of keeping one’s

word to God and all others.©

This piece is brought to WoofBay by the prestigious Spirits in Stone Gallery, situated on the east side of Sonoma Plaza, in the historic town of Sonoma, California.
