Description
William Henry Chandler was an early American pastel artist. His love of the outdoors and nature is projected in all the pictures that he painted. In his painting of landscape scenes, the lakes, rivers, streams, mountains, and trees were the focal point of each picture. When a cabin or cottage was included, it was tucked into the picture in such a way as to show that man and nature are in harmony.
His prints and pastels can be very collectable antiques as well as works of art. They are full of character, very firmly drawn, and as fresh today as when they were done. They have experienced very little deteriorations over the years, and with a little care are prized possessions of many collectors.
