The YMCA of Lansing opened its doors in Lansing in 1877. The YMCA of Lansing is a not for profit charitable organization that is volunteer driven.

With five branches, a day camp and a resident camp, we are at the heart of community life in Lansing. The YMCA is for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. The YMCA nurtures the healthy development of children and teens, strengthens families and makes it community a healthier, safer, better place to live. YMCAs help people develop values consistent with Christian principles. The YMCAs strength is in the people that we bring together.

YMCA programs are tools for building the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Ys teach kids to swim, offer exercise classes for people with disabilities and lead adult aerobics. We also offer other programs in response to community needs, including camping, child care, teen programs, youth sports, family nights, mentoring and many more.

The YMCA's annual fundraising campaign ensures that no one is turned away for inability to pay. The funds provide financial assistance to children, families and older adults who need it most in our community.
