Description

The Third Graders have been learning about how humans have learned to get by on the earth. As part of their study of textiles and clothing they learned how to make many different dyes and experimented with dying wool, linen, and cotton. Our very own Ms. Roff was an integral part of their learning during this block. Our donation to the gala this year is a set of hand dyed and woven place mats.

The Place mats were hand woven on a four harness loom that the 3rd graders helped to refurbish. We used warp and strips of cotton fabric that were dyed by the students. Lots of math went into figuring out how much fabric and warp was needed too! Plant dyes that were made and used include: osage, brazilwood, madder, and sumac. Be the lucky winner of these beautifully hand-crafted place mats!

This is a Live Event Item.
