About the artist:
Deb began painting in pastels 20 years ago. It was a new area for her to explore, still life and landscapes, as she had previously worked abstractly in oils, many years earlier. What drew Deb to realistic painting was the challenge of capturing light and shadow in color. Deb works full time for Puppets in Education/Kids on the Block-Vermont, and has an active family life, so painting for her is a part time love. Still, she says “It is a joy and honor to have any day free to soak in the beauty of Vermont! It is also a humbling exercise, trying to represent on paper the splendor of this world. Here are my best efforts to say to you, ‘Look up, take notice, pay attention to the homilies of the heavens and the earth.’”
Deb asked to close with the words of Rich Mullins, one of her favorite musicians: “We are joined in a responsibility to together make this world a good one for all of us. Each of us warms the world or chills it inasmuch as we offer or withhold respect, hospitality, encouragement, love, or truth. In that sense we are all parts of each other’s well-being or sickness, and we affect the climate that we all share.” Deb hopes her painting “warms” your well-being and that your life is filled with many blessings.
