BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of Vermont women's basketball team finished the 2009-10 season receiving votes in both national polls.
The America East Champions received a pair of votes in the final AP Top 25 Poll and also earned five votes in the last USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll of the season.
Vermont received votes in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll for 19 straight weeks. The Catamounts earned a season-high 22 votes on December 1.
UVM returned to the national rankings for the first time in 17 years when the Catamounts earned a No. 24 ranking in the AP Top 25 Poll on Jan. 18 and received votes in the poll six other weeks.
In 2009-10, the Catamounts to a record of 27-7 (13-3 in America East/2nd place), the third most wins in school history.
Vermont won its second straight America East Championship with a 55-50 victory over top-seeded and No. 21 ranked Hartford in the title game. With the win, UVM earned its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance via the league's automatic bid.
The Catamounts earned a No. 10 seed and went on to post an upset victory over No. 7 Wisconsin in the first round for the program's first NCAA Tournament win. Vermont fell to No. 2 Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. in the second round to close out the year.
