A rain barrel is a simple system used to catch rainwater.  A spigot, overflow pipe and screened opening are attached and constructed to the barrel.  The barrel is then placed under a downspout on your home or other building so it can collect the rain water that comes off of the roof.  For every inch of rain that falls in a 1,000 square foot catchment area, you can collect up to 600 gallons of rainwater. Four inches of rainfall can yield approximately 2,400 gallons.  Even though you may not collect exactly that amount at each rainfall due to wind or other natural factors you can still collect a lot of water. Water your flower gardens, beds and container grown plants that may sit on your patio or deck.  You not only give your plants a soft and natural watering you also reduce the need and costs associated with using treated water from your water district.  Rain barrel can be painted to match your home!

This is a Live Event Item.
