Dwight Clark & John Taylor "The Catch" & "The Catch II" (2) 8 x 10 Display Two great 49ers moments: "The Catch" and "The Catch II"together. 49ers Pro-Bowl Wide Receiver Dwight Clark had a stellar career with the Niners, finishing with 506 catches for 6750 yards and 48 touchdowns, as well as two Super Bowl rings. Clark's most memorable touchdown came in the 1982 NFC Playoffs. On January 11, 1982, against the Dallas Cowboys, the San Francisco 49ers were trailing 27-21 in the final minute of play to advance to the Super Bowl. Clark made a leaping catch of a desperation pass from quarterback Joe Montana in the back of the end zone to give the 49ers a 28-27 victory. That play, one of the most famous in 49er and NFL history, is today simply known as "The Catch." John Taylor played WR for the 49ers from 1987 to 1995 and was an exceptional counterpart to Hall of Fame teammate Jerry Rice during that time. Taylor is best known for his winning 10-yard touchdown reception from Joe Montana during the final seconds of Super Bowl XXIII in 1989, referred to as "The Catch II" by Niner fans. This unique display includes a photograph of each Catch, signed by Dwight and John.
