Joe Thornton & Evgeni Nabokov
Quest for the Cup
Dual-Signed Puck
Joe Thornton, of course, is considered one of the best hockey players in the World. Drafted 1st overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins, Thornton played six stellar seasons for Boston, before being traded to San Jose on November 30, 2005 in a blockbuster four-player deal. A perennial NHL All-Star and member of Team Canada, Joe is one of the most dominant players in the game today! In his first season in San Jose, all Joe did was win the Hart Trophy (NHL MVP) and Art Ross Trophy (most points in the League with 125), all while "assisting" Jonathan Cheechoo in earning the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy for most goals in the League. In 2008/09, Joe led the Sharks to the franchise's first ever Presidents Trophy as San Jose had the most points in the League (53 wins and 117 points).
Born in Kamenogorsk, USSR, San Jose Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov has become one of the premier netminders in the NHL. In 2000-01 he won the Calder Trophy as the top NHL rookie. Evgeni led the Sharks to a Pacific Division title in 2001-02 and in 2003-2004, Nabokov led the Sharks to the Western Conference Finals, the furthest San Jose has ever reached in the NHL Play-offs. In 2007/08 Evgeni became an All-Star while once again leading the Sharks to the post-season and in 2008/09, Evgeni was between the pipes as the Sharks won the Presidents Cup awarded to the NHL team with the best regular season record.
Together Joe and Evgeni anchor the Sharks offense and defense respectively, defining the success of the team and franchise more than any other players on the roster. Get this great collectible, in a black wood case, UV-protective glass, and classic double-matting. A great gift for that special Sharks fan.
