Description

Walk a mountain trail as it winds its way through the beautiful Sonoran Desert. See the giant saguaro cactus and the sun glistening through fields of teddy bear cholla. See the seasonal flowers in bloom.

The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy offers to the highest bidder a special, guided hike for up to 12 people in Scottsdale’s natural treasure, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, or in nearby state trust land that has been designated for preservation. The outing will be led by a guide who is expert in desert plants, animals, and lore. We’ll go slowly and stop to admire and discuss what we see. It will be an experience you and your family or friends long will remember.

You can pick your hike from a list of more than a dozen scenic Preserve trails ranging in length from less than 3 miles to more than 8 miles. You’ll be able to find one that’s suitable for just about any age or level of fitness, at the date and time of your choosing.  We ask that hikers wear sturdy, covered shoes or boots. Hats and sunscreen are suggested.

The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers, that depends on contributions to support its activities. These include advocacy of the conservation cause, desert-education programs including a public-hiking schedule, and maintenance of the Preserve, which is owned by the city of Scottsdale.  Your donation will help keep the desert experience alive for future generations.
