Rabbi Samuel ben Isaac Aripul (1540? – after 1586) was a rabbinic scholar and one of the greatest preachers of the 16th century. He was probably born in Salonika and he published works in Constantinople, Venice and Safed.
This book is representative of 16th century messianic Safed.  It attempts to document messianic references in THE SONG OF SONGS and to pinpoint the expected date of the coming of the Messiah.  From it one can glean important historical information on the Safed of its day.
