Description

This giclee on canvas of Baseball Hall of Famer Ted Williams by renowned artist and sculptor Armand LaMontagne of North Scituate, RI, is a find for the art lover who is also a die-hard member of Red Sox Nation.

Painted in 1999 (signature on front), this piece also boasts LaMontagne's handwritten signature and notes on the back: B.H.F. #3 and B.H.F. #9. These refer to LaMontagne's most famous works of art, wooden sculptures of Babe Ruth and Ted Williams (respectively) housed at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Many sports heroes have been immortalized by Armand LaMontagne, but none as often as Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox. "I have tremendous respect for that man," Mr. LaMontagne said of Mr. Williams, his boyhood idol, who hit .406 in 1941. "He practiced, practiced, practiced and became the greatest in his sport. You can't teach that."

The piece measures 16 3/4" H x 12 1/2" W (including a 1 1/4" gilded wood frame).
