Some fun historical facts:
- JFK made his first public speech at the age of 7 in the press room while attending his grandfather's birthday party.
- Malcolm X was a bus boy in Parker's in the early 40's.
- Ho Chi Minh was a pastry chef in Parker's kitchen from 1911-13.
- Boston Cream Pie, now the offical Massachusetts state dessert, was created in the ovens of Parker's Restaurant.
- Parker's was also the birthplace of the famous Parker House Rolls, requested by FDR.
- The term "scrod" which means "catch of the day" was coined at Parker's.
- The Saturday Club, a group of the brightest luminaries in America's Golden Age of Literature, made their home here. Longfellow drafted "Paul Revere's Ride" here. Other members included Dickens, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes.
