About Green Explorers Camp:

The Green Explorers program is for the budding outdoor enthusiast who can't get enough nature.  Surrounded by ponds, wetlands, and miles of trails, Green Explorers will focus on experiential outdoor exploration, education, and hands on identification.  Participants will take exciting field trips to neighboring farms, natural areas, and collaborating programs.

About Hale Day Camps!

Situated on 1,100 acres of unspoiled woodlands, winding streams, extensive hiking trails and scenic ponds, Hale Day Camp offers the perfect backdrop for a summer of outdoor exploration and learning.  Hale Day Camp’s “backyard” consists of two playing fields, a private swimming beach with changing area and bathroom, an outdoor activity pavilion, an Arts & Crafts cabin, Worthington and Powissett Lodges.

Hale Day Camp Philosophy

Our staff create a trusting and safe camp atmosphere for children by:

  •  Developing a sense of responsibility toward themselves and their community.

  •  Practicing cooperation and fair play.

  •  Guiding discovery and exploration of their environment.

  •  Building friendships and sharing talents.

Camp is full of adventure!

We offer a wide variety of exciting experiences for allcampers at each of our camps. Hale's complete range of activities reward each camper with challenges, a sense of accomplishment, and most of all, FUN!

Campers can choose to register for the Traditional Camp, one of the Specialty Camps or combine them for an extra exciting summer!   With all our programs we recognize campers share the need for a nurturing environment where they can mature socially, emotionally and intellectually. We believe in continuing camping traditions such as, being outdoors all day, getting plenty of exercise and swimming in our natural ponds.  We also believe that having choices gives campers a more personal experience at camp along with lots of traditional camp activities.

Activities offered at Hale Day Camp:

Swimming

Whether learning to swim, striving to pass the “deep end” test, perfecting the “cannonball” technique, or just splashing around, everyone loves swimming in Powissett Pond!  Campers have American Red Cross swim lessons and free swim each day (weather permitting).

Nature

Explore the woods for arrowheads, scavenge for blueberries or search for animal tracks as you learn all about the wonders of Hale’s big backyard!

Archery

Grab your arm band, aquiver, an arrow, a bow as the target stands in the distance.

With certified instructors teaching the basics, your camper will be sure to have loads of fun learning how to go for the bull’s-eye!

Boating

Using any one of our canoes, kayaks, and row boats, you’ll learn all there is to know about boating:  J-strokes, Draws & Pry’s– all in a day’s fun on Powissett Pond.

Arts and Crafts

Let your imagination soar as you imagine, discover, and create at the Arts and Crafts Lodge.  With projects changing daily like friendship bracelets, finger painting, and animal masks, it’s hard to get bored here!

Sports & Games

It’s not about winning and losing but about having fun.  No matter their skill level campers will enjoy each day with games such as “Whiffle Ball,” “Nuke ‘em,” “Kick Ball,” “Street Box Hockey,” “Ga-Ga Ball,” “Drip, Drip, Drop,” “Frisbee Golf” and many, many more everyday!  The focus is on team play and good sportsmanship, so come join us for fun on the field!

Adventure and Outdoor Living Skills  Ever wish you could go rock climbing, learn how to build a proper shelter, know how to make a fire with wet wood?  With Outdoor Living Skills you will…as well as go fishing, make “S’mores” & hike to Powissett Peak.

Special Events

Family picnics, theme days, overdays, overnights, and barbeques, are special events that happen throughout the summer and are a chance for kids to have extra fun.  Parents are welcome to most of these special programs.
