The New Bedford Whaling Museum mounts rotating and permanent exhibitions drawn from among its many exceptional collections.  These collections represent the allure and adventure of American whaling in over 7,500 paintings and prints; 3,000 scrimshaw pieces; 1,000 ethnographic items; the world’s largest ship model (89-feet long); nearly 6,000 decorative arts objects; 3,000 tools and other whale craft; more than 2,300 logbooks and journals; 750 maps, charts, and bird’s eye views; 30,000 books; 1,200 linear feet of manuscripts containing approximately half-a-million individual items; 180,000 photographs and negatives.
