Description

Fieldston Outdoors Summer Day Camp offers an adventurous program that fosters self-awareness, concern for others, and the deep satisfaction of being in touch with the earth. With a unique focus on nature and the Hudson River, campers learn about the influence of local geography on the native American and colonial residents of this area as well as our present impact upon the environment. We observe nature directly and look at it through the eyes of earlier peoples as presented in their songs, stories, folklore, and crafts.

"We love Fieldston Outdoors.  After eight years, it is very dear to us.  We hope you will retain its unique combination of diverse programming and ethical culture values - something for everyone, and everyone valued" -

Day trips are an integral part of the experience and include hiking the Hudson Highlands, sailing on the Clearwater sloop, and canoeing the Piermont Marshes. Overnight camping is optional for 1st through 6th graders. Additionally, a full range of traditional camp activities is offered, including art, physical education, swimming, dance, gardening, and music. On three afternoons each week, campers select from an extensive roster that comprises the “choice program.”  Older campers design their own programs focusing on intensive, weeklong courses that are tailored to their interests. All campers participate in theme days, such as Strawberry Festival and Carnival.

Fieldston Outdoors Summer Day Camp is committed to the philosophy of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, which emphasizes the unique value and dignity of the individual, encourages the potential growth in every child, and values the importance of sharing experiences in a diverse community. The program offers full and per-session rates; financial aid is available. Door-to-door bus service to and from Manhattan is available at an additional cost.
