Intended Audience:
Secondary school or college studentsBusiness professionals
Focus
Successful learning involves a clear understanding that writing and ready in are strategic applications of cognitive systems. The systems are basic and easy to understand; the reading and writing strategies are easy to apply.
Framework of Session
Twelve Participants may attend for $75 each.
Each participant is encouraged to bring a "study partner" (no additional fee)
"Effective learning often involves collaboration."
Each participant is encouraged to bring a "significant other" (e.g. parent, spouse)
"Effective learning benefits from an informed support system."
Each participant is encouraged to bring a book for academic study they are using
Outline of Session
Participant and partner will sit together at a U shaped table. Significant other will be an observer in chairs adjacent to learners.

- Brief explanation of the cognitive principles of literacy learining
- Outline of effective academic writing, a program for successful expression
- Application activity

Instructional Staff:
The workshop is presented by faculty and former faculty at university, community college, and schools (public& private). Presenters have graduate degrees in cognitive and literacy studies.
