Fran Gruchy is a retired Park Ranger who is currently giving home health care to her mom, Florence, who is a patient of The Denver Hospice. "Mom and I were both born in Colorado and have a love of the natural world around her mountain home. Mom is an artist and used art therapy last year with The Denver Hospice, just after my Dad's death," said Fran. Their mask, David's Garden II, was painted using David's Garden by Florence Gruchy as a prototype. She worked with an art therapist after her husband's death to depict her memories of his vegetable and fruit garden at their mountain home near Golden. "My painting uses Mom's concept, with a geometric approach, and a bird's eye view, which represents my Dad's vantage point," says Fran. "His spirit is portrayed by the bluebird."
