Fort Collins, Colo., artist Jeremy Speck has been very active in contributing artwork to charities for years. He works in many different types of media including acrylic, exotic woods, semi-precious metals, stainless steel, and aluminum and has worked on commissioned pieces for those who truly appreciate a tailored art piece to enhance their life. In his mask he uses an exotic wood called Purple Heart, along with green glass acrylic, stainless steel fasteners and aluminum spacers. Titled "Emerge," he presents an image of someone who is pushing through a difficulty and breaking through a pane of glass, shattering it to pieces. "We all experience times in our lives where the next step seems insurmountable and this image is of a person breaking through the barrier and into the place of freedom," he says. "We all need to emerge from the things that hold us back."
