Leav Boldender grew up in Flagstaff, Ariz., now resides in Denver. She has been exhibited in galleries in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Virginia, and Idaho, and holds graduate degrees from Northern Arizona University and Denver University. ?When people ask me where I get my ideas, I tell them ?in the dumpster,?? she says. ?It goes back to my childhood when my Dad would ?fix? something broken.? Her mask, ?Dumpster Diva? evolved from eight boxes of neoprene she picked up on the curb in my neighborhood, and found objects she saved at home and found on the streets while walking my dogs. It?s message is to encourage recycling.
