Lisa Makolondra received her BFA from the University of Colorado at Denver. When she isn't painting, she works in a bakery as a cake decorator making custom 3-D and wedding cakes. She interns for the curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum. For her mask she arranged bones and broken objects in complicated compositions to talk about death at large and her own mortality. "None of us is perfect and that is what makes us interesting," she says. "Our own history shows up on our faces just like the mask shows just where I struck with a hammer."
