Artist Marcella Nordbeck of Lakewood, Colo., titled her mask, "The Golden Thread of Truth," which was inspired by her studies of world religions, new thought philosophy, and her experiences while meditating. The Detroit native's earliest memory of painting was at age 3, when her single mother who hold a Fine Arts degree struggled to support the family. She "lived" in the art room in high school and working in advertising for 10 years. An illness in 2002, reintroduced her to art through art therapy which led her to enroll in art studies with Shadia Zayed in Detroit. Her mission is to "send out love in the world - one painting at a time."
