Molly van Rijssen, LPC, ATR, grew up in the rich, fertile heartland of the Midwest, where she observed and learned firsthand the cycles of life and death. She moved to Colorado 10 years ago to study art therapy because she believes so strongly in art and its inherent ability to heal. After earning her masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy she began working for the Denver Hospice in 2008, providing art therapy to children on the Colorado Medicaid Pediatric Hospice Waiver. Her mask, Magic Grove and the Night Sky, featuring a grove of trees sits atop a hill, surrounded by mountains, and a swirling sky filled with stars. Each star has a small fingerprint and a letter, placed there by each of the children with whom she works. Two stars represent two sweet souls who have passed on.
