This photograph of the exterior of the Glace Bay Synagogue in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia was taken in Fall 2007. The photographer says that this once-thriving Jewish community shrunk when the closing of the coal mines and steel plant forced families to leave. Only a small community stayed in Glace Bay, mostly seniors.
