Description
Join AJWS for a rare opportunity to travel with leaders of the global social justice movement. Ruth Messinger and AJWS scholars lead one- to two-week trips to Africa, Asia and the Americas that go beyond the bounds of traditional tourism. Each extraordinary destination is the backdrop for a deep exploration of the challenges facing people in the developing world and the passion that drives grassroots change.
On excursions that traverse urban and rural landscapes, you will meet individuals at the forefront of local activism: teachers educating children about human rights in rural villages; advocates working to empower women and girls; HIV/AIDS activists working with at-risk populations in urban slums. The history, culture and politics of each region come alive through intimate conversations with leading politicians, journalists, academics and elected officials.
In 2011, AJWS is hosting Study Tours in Ethiopia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The winner of this item can choose to apply this $1500 discount to any one of these tours.
Special Instructions
Please be aware that Study Tours range in cost from $3,500 to $6,000. AJWS is offering a $1,500 discount. Participants are expected to cover the remaining expenses, including airfare.
