According to the ancient Greek tale, the love god cupid was so taken with the human, Psyche, that he took her away and made her his own. And that's what 19th-Century French master Pierre-Paul Prud'hon depicts in this work, the original of which hangs in the Louvre. This late 19th-Century gravure of Prud'hon's "Abduction of Psyche" is in mint condition, measuring 7" x 5 ½". Matted in museum board within a gold wood frame, overall dimensions are 16" x 14". It's a donation from the collection of Stephan and Julia Brigidi of the Bristol Workshops in Photography, Bristol, RI.
