It may not look like it, but the heart of Bristol’s Hope Diner is an early 1930s Worcester lunch car - wheels and all. But after damage in the hurricane of 1938 it was encased in a wooden shell!
The Hope was featured here on Rhode Island PBS in our show, “New England Portrait” and it’s won several Rhode Island Monthly’s readers’ polls. There are no pretentious attitudes at the Hope, which could be why their motto is, “Don’t be a dope! Eat at the Hope!”
