Description

Calligraphy is often called the art of fancy lettering. Before the invention of the printing press some 500 years ago, calligraphy was the way books were written. Each copy was handwritten by a scribe working in a scriptorium. This special hand writing was performed with quill and ink on materials like vellum or parchment.  A contemporary definition of calligraphy is "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner".  The word calligraphy literally means beautiful writing.

This auction item offers calligraphy for 100 envelopes for that "special occasion" by Audrey Lum, calligrapher.
