Tim graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City in 1984, where graphic design was his primary focus.  After finishing school, he worked at several design firms in NYC before moving to San Francisco in 1992, where he continued to work as a designer.  About half his work is done on location, or "plein air", and the rest is done in his studio from studies or photographs.

Tim lives in Fairfax with his wife and 2 young sons, teaches several plein air workshops every year, and paints all over the Bay Area and beyond.
