Description

There’s no other family event in the region that comes close to the originality and majestic luster of the Chorus of Westerly’s production of A Celebration of Twelfth Night. This production is a rich tapestry of music, tragicomedy, dance, swordplay and mythical beasts, featuring a newly-penned original script every year. With a cast of over 100, the 200-voice Chorus, and one delicious traditional Peasants’ Feast, it leads you irresistibly into the Twelfth Night experience.  The winning bidder of this auction item will received two Section A tickets (reserved center orchestra seating) to attend the performance on Sunday, January 9th at either 4 pm or 8 pm (winning bidder's choice) including dinner at the Peasants' Feast prior to the show from 6:30-7:45 pm in the historic and acoustically acclaimed (and festively decorated!) George Kent Performance Hall, 119 High Street, in Westerly, Rhode Island.

The Chorus of Westerly is a nonprofit choral organization dedicated to bringing high-level artistic experiences to southern Rhode Island. Founded in 1959 by Music Director George Kent, The Chorus of Westerly has grown to include nearly 200 singers, including 80 children and teens ages 8-18. Over its 50 seasons, the Chorus has performed many of the greatest choral works ever written from Bach’s B Minor Mass to Walton’s Belshazzer’s Feast, receiving critical acclaim and attention in both the regional media and in national publications such as the New York Times and Yankee Magazine. In addition, the Chorus has performed seven U.S. premieres of British choral works and has undertaken three large-scale concert tours abroad (twice to Great Britain and once to Italy). As part of these tours, the Chorus performed at King’s College Chapel, Westminster Abbey, Canterbury Cathedral, Saint Mark’s Basilica (Venice), Saint Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, and performed the Verdi Requiem for the prestigious closing concert of the 1987 Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds.
