Born out of necessity, Baby Boot Camp arrived shortly after Kristen Horler's first child in August 2001. Horler searched the San Francisco Bay Area for a postnatal fitness class. After extensive research, she was unable to find a challenging workout that didn't require hiring a personal trainer and a babysitter or purchasing a gym membership. Drawing from her experience as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, triathlete and mother, she developed Baby Boot Camp to balance the fitness needs of new moms with their desire to spend time with their baby.

This innovative stroller-fitness program helps moms regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment. Ross is such an excellent trainer.  I met him through Baby Boot Camp, trying to lose weight after having my son.  He's still a trainer at the Dolores Park site and I highly recommend the class to any new mothers.  He knows some of the mothers are just starting back after many months of little to no exercise, but he manages to give everyone a challenging workout without overdoing it.  Regardless of how many mothers are in the class, he gives personalized attention, providing modifications when necessary.  He's also really great about rocking and holding babies while providing instruction!  My son loves him.  And after a couple of months of class, I was back into my skinny jeans--this never would have happened otherwise.
