In high school, Fred competed in cross-country and swimming. He is married to his wife Annie, and the couple divides their lives between homes in Emeryville, Calif. and Girona, Spain. Freddys favorite movie is Star Wars and his favorite cuisine is Japanese. | |||
Favorite Pastimes | |||
Freds interests outside cycling certainly mark him as Californian. He enjoys surfing in his spare time, and his greatest interests include coffee and technology. Fred and Annie have an Australian Shepard named Kaileigh. | |||
How They Got Here | |||
Rodriguez was encouraged to begin cycling in 1987 by his father who was a nationally ranked cyclist in Colombia, having ridden in the Tour de Colombia three times. He progressed from Californian mini-peloton through the U.S. Junior and Senior team ranks. Fred began his pro career with Saturn in 1996. From 1999-2000, he raced for Mapei-Quick Step and from 2001-2002, he raced for Domo/FarmFrites. In 2003, he rode with Division I Italian Vini Calidirola Sidermec. | |||

Fred created a coffee blend, Fast Freddies Turbo Blend which he is selling locally in California. Rodriguez was the Junior National Road Champion in 1991. He was a member of the U.S. National Team from 1993-1995. | |||
