The Story.....

One of the many benefits of growing grapes in the Napa Valley is the almost limitless bounty that Mother Nature bestows upon us. So generous in fact, that in good vintages I'll often discover a few barrels that are clearly superior to everything else in the cellar. On most occasions, this is a direct result of decisions that I make as a winemaker. Humbly, there are times when Mother Nature's good graces are purely the result of good fortune. Given the numerous variables that I encounter each vintage, it is only after I've had a chance to taste through each barrel that I gain a genuine appreciation for the nuances that each vineyard has to offer. Those barrels that prove to be truly unique & distinctive, will ultimately form the foundation of our limited production, ultra-premium Herrera label. Each wine will be named in honor of one of my children and will only be produced in years when I feel that the vintage warrants special recognition. Considering the painstaking nature of this process, production will generally be limited to approximately 100 cases.

The Wine.....

I am grateful that life has granted me the opportunity to express my passion for winemaking while creating a wine that proudly carries my family name, Herrera. Named in honor of my son Rolando Jr., this wine is a reflection of his personality..... bold, concentrated and muscular with great depth and substance.
